It works for me also, but I make two cups of strong brewed tea. It's a sleepy tea from walmart that has valerian in it. 2 tea bags (two times) seep for 10 minutes. I combine that with 400 mg of L-theanine. On nights when the brain just will *not shut off* and I *don't* want to take a prescription med, I will add 1 pack of this sleep gel I order online. It's by healthycell called rem sleep. It's got a bunch of sleep supplements in it. Its expensive so I only use it sparingly, but the combo of the 3 (valerian+L-theanine+ rem sleep pack helps. I've had chronic insomnia for at least 50 years. Sometimes it was advantageous to have it (higher education, raising kids, working nights) other times, MOST times, it is not.

I often take valerian root for mild insomnia and it works fine for me. In case of extreme anxiety it seems to have no effect at all, unfortunately...

I've taken most supements/meds over the past few decades to different results. Valerian supplements have historically done little for me. But, if you're able to replace an orexin blocker with a cup of tea I'd love to know the brand/strength. I long for the day of sleeping naturally
