The science
What's actually in Withanly — and what we won't pretend it is.
Most supplement “science” pages are written to sell. This one is written to be checked. Below is exactly what Withanly contains, what ashwagandha is traditionally and clinically studied for, why we chose the form we did — and a short, plain list of things we will not claim until we can back them up.
The label, in full
What's in each capsule.
No proprietary blend, nothing hidden behind a “complex.” Three things:
Organic Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera), root
Organic, single-origin whole root — the traditional form of the herb.
Organic Black Pepper (Piper nigrum), fruit
Contains piperine, included to support absorption.
Pullulan capsule
A vegan, fermentation-derived capsule — not gelatin.
That's the complete ingredient list. Bottled in the US under Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Honest answers
The questions a careful buyer actually asks.
Is Withanly KSM-66?
No. Withanly is organic, single-origin whole-root ashwagandha with organic black pepper. It is not KSM-66, which is a specific branded, standardized root extractmade by a single manufacturer. We don't use the KSM-66 name because we don't use the KSM-66 ingredient — and pretending otherwise would be dishonest.
Branded standardized extracts like KSM-66 are a legitimate choice. So is organic whole root — it's the form the herb has been used in for roughly 3,000 years of Ayurvedic practice, and it's a genuinely organic, single-origin material rather than a commodity blend. We chose whole root deliberately, and we'd rather tell you that plainly than borrow a name that isn't ours.
What's the withanolide percentage?
We're not going to print a number we can't yet stand behind with independent paperwork. Standardized branded extracts advertise a fixed withanolide percentage because that's the point of standardization. Withanly is whole root, so a marketed percentage would be a claim, not a measured guarantee — and our third-party Certificates of Analysis (COAs) are still being finalized. Until those land, we'd rather say “we don't have a verified number to show you yet” than invent one. When the COAs are complete, what they say is what we'll publish — good or otherwise.
Why whole root instead of a concentrated extract?
Whole-root ashwagandha is the traditional preparation and a completely legitimate way to take the herb. Organic, single-origin sourcing means we know where the root came from and that it was grown without synthetic inputs — which matters to us more than chasing the highest possible concentration number on a label. It's a different philosophy from a standardized extract, not a lesser one. We paired it with black pepper because piperine has long been used alongside botanicals to support absorption.
What is ashwagandha studied for?
Ashwagandha is one of the more researched adaptogenic herbs. It has been used in Ayurvedic practice for roughly 3,000 years, and multiple human trials have examined its role in supporting a healthy stress response, everyday calm, and restful sleep. You can read several of those studies in the references below.
One honest caveat we'll repeat because it matters: much of the published clinical research uses concentrated, standardized root extractsat specific doses — a different form from Withanly's whole root. We cite that research because it's the science on the ingredient, not as a promise that any specific outcome from those studies will be reproduced by this product. We're deliberately not quoting trial percentages here for exactly that reason.
What does the black pepper do?
Each capsule includes organic black pepper (Piper nigrum), which naturally contains piperine. Piperine has a long history of being combined with botanicals to support their absorption. It's a small, sensible inclusion — and, like everything else, it's named plainly on the label rather than buried in a blend.
Is it third-party tested?
Withanly is bottled in the US at a GMP-certified facility. Independent third-party Certificates of Analysis are being finalizedand aren't published yet. We won't claim a level of verification we don't currently have — when the COAs are complete, we'll share them here.
Our honesty line
What we will not claim.
A short list is more trustworthy than a long one. Here's what you will never see us say about Withanly:
- That it's KSM-66, BioPerine, or any other branded ingredient we don't actually use.
- A specific withanolide percentage, until independent COAs verify one.
- That a clinical trial's results — especially trials run on a different form or dose — are a guarantee of what this product will do for you.
- That it diagnoses, treats, cures, or prevents any disease, including insomnia or anxiety. It's a supplement, not a medicine.
- Any “miracle,” overnight, or guaranteed-result promise. Bodies and lives are more complicated than a capsule.
If we ever can't support a claim with honest evidence, the answer is simple: we don't make it. That's the whole policy.

These studies were conducted on ashwagandha root, in several cases using concentrated standardized extracts at specific doses. They are provided as background on the ingredient and are not a representation that Withanly's whole-root formulation will produce the same results.
